This year we celebrate a special milestone: 25 years of Motor service Edgar Stijner, 15 of which have been at our current location. What began as a young motocross rider's dream has, after more than 30 years of experience, grown into one of the most trusted motorcycle services in the region. From Motocross Track to Workshop: The Roots of Edgar Stijner
The story of Motor service Edgar Stijner does not begin in a workshop, but on the motocross track. As a young boy, Edgar was already completely captivated by motorcycles. Every weekend he could be found on the motocross track with his father Walter Stijner, where they trained together and dreamed of great victories. Walter was the one who introduced Edgar to motorcycles and then motocross bikes.
Those dreams came true when Edgar worked his way up to the level of the Dutch Motocross Championships. An achievement that not only proves his talent but also the dedication and discipline he would later apply in his more than 30-year career in the motorcycle world.
A Family United by Motorcycle Passion
Motorsport has always been a family affair for the Stijner family. Grandfather Herman Floors, a true sportsman at heart, was a constant source of motivation for Edgar. His presence at training sessions and competitions gave Edgar the extra drive to always get the best out of himself.
Mother Joke Stijner-Floors, sister Chantal Stijner, and youngest brother Arjan Stijner were also loyal supporters who cheered Edgar on at many competitions. This family support shaped Edgar into the entrepreneur he is today: someone who understands that success is a team effort.
The Apprenticeship Years: Craftsmanship at Piet van Dijk
At the age of 18, Edgar made a crucial choice. He went to work for Piet van Dijk, then one of the best-known motorcycle businesses in the region. What started as a young mechanic with big dreams developed into a story of growth and dedication.
Edgar worked his way up over many years from mechanic to workshop manager, expanding his knowledge and skills daily. This period of intensive training and practical experience laid the foundation for his more than 30-year career in the motorcycle world. His employer recognized his talent and regularly sent him to motorcycle importers in Sweden and other European countries. This international experience gave Edgar a unique perspective on the motorcycle world and expanded his expertise to a level few achieve.
2000: The Leap to Independence
After years of learning and growing at Piet van Dijk, with significant experience already under his belt, Edgar felt in 2000 that the time was right for the next step. With all the accumulated knowledge and an unwavering belief in quality service, he started Motor service Edgar Stijner.
The first years were challenging, but Edgar's reputation as a craftsman and his personal approach ensured that the company grew quickly. Customers appreciated not only his technical expertise but also his honest advice and transparent working methods.
2010: A New Home at the Current Location
In 2010, Edgar made an investment that underlined his confidence in the future: he bought the building at the current location and began a complete renovation. This renovation was more than just an expansion; it was the realization of a vision based on decades of experience.
